Your MSD knowledge is not Power.

Your MSD knowledge is not Power.

Remember that your knowledge of MSD (Market Systems Development) can only become powerful if you can apply it in real-life situations.

The ability to convert knowledge into skills is what separates an effective program from a waste of effort, time, and money. There are two main steps to this process - first, you need to understand the conversion process, and then you need to practice.

The conversion process

1.     Know what you know – This is a self-evaluation of your understanding of a certain topic. Although you have passed the assessment, it's important to evaluate how well you comprehend the concepts and principles. Can you explain them to others? This self-assessment will assist you in identifying areas where you may need to improve your understanding and take necessary steps to fill any gaps...

2.     Test what you know - To effectively evaluate your knowledge, it is advisable to create or find an existing case study that you can use to apply your knowledge in writing. This will assist you in identifying any gaps in your comprehension. Furthermore, it will provide you with an understanding of the difficulties you may confront while implementing the knowledge in real-world scenarios.

3.     Show what you know – It is recommended to discuss the intervention you developed in step 2 with an experienced practitioner or colleague at this stage. They can provide valuable insights and offer constructive criticism. Reflect on the feedback you receive and use it to revise and improve your intervention.

Practice

1.     Do what you know – You are now ready to apply the knowledge and skills you have acquired to a real-life situation. Create an intervention for your program.

It's important to realize that just having knowledge is not sufficient to bring about change. Your knowledge can only become impactful if you possess the skills to implement it in the real world. This ability is what differentiates a successful endeavour from a failed one.
